CLAYTON, John Douglas.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Douglas Clayton of Ayr on October 29, 2022 at the age of 60.

Proud father of Genevieve Clayton (Jared).  Beloved son of Anita Hebblethwaite (George) and the late John Clayton.  Dear brother to Derek Clayton (Victoria) and the late Janice Beirness (Scott), as well as step-siblings, George Hebblethwaite (Karyn), Sandy Collins (Rick) and Kathy Hennig (John).  Loving godfather and uncle to Brittany Beirness and John Beirness. He will also be missed by his godmother, Barbara Berg, many cousins, and his partner Teresa Birkmann.

John was a kind and gentle man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His greatest joy in life was his daughter and she made him immensely proud with her recent graduation and starting her career as a Registered Nurse. He spent most of his professional life at Sun Life where he made many lifelong friends. Spending time with family, powerlifting, playing euchre, long distance bike rides, and brewery tours were some of his many passions.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at St. Mary’s General Hospital Emergency Department for providing attentive care to John, and supporting Genevieve along the way.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S, Waterloo on Friday, November 4th starting at 1:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.

Condolences for the family and donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745–8445.
