Obituary of Clara Meyer

It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Clara Meyer (Nee Bakker), our loving and caring Wife, Mother, Oma, and friend to all whose lives she touched. On Wednesday November 2, 2022, she left us peacefully after precious time spent with her family at Innisfree House in Kitchener, Ontario. She was in her 84th year.

Born in Joure, Netherlands, on July 28,1938. Clara immigrated after the second World War in 1951 to Woodbridge, Ontario with her large family. Clara married Renso Meyer in 1958. They lived in Glen Williams where they started their family and worked side by side in a number of business ventures.

Clara was the beloved mother of Sonya-(Hugo), John-(Cathy), Angela(deceased)-(Julio), Michelle-(Paul), the very proud Oma of Eric, Lucas, Patrick (Claudina), Shayla (John), Alexander (Ruth), Nicholas, Aaron (Brooke), Madeline, Samuel, Annalise. She also enjoyed some special times with her Great Grandchild (Emilia). Remembered by her brothers and sisters. Freda (Albert)deceased, Wayne (Kendra), Clarence (Betty), John(deceased)(Agnes), Agnes (John)deceased, Jim (Tena), Catherine (Frank), Robert (Joanne). Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Piet (Tini), Peter (Audrey)deceased, Alice (Jake)deceased.   She was a special Auntie to many nieces and nephews who appreciated the “open-door” at her home.

She lived a life full of unwavering faith in God, never ending love for her family and willingness to help others around her. Clara was an active member of the Waterloo Christian Reformed Church where she sang in the choir, served as a Deacon and was also involved with the Friendship Group.  She will be dearly missed by all and has a place forever and always in our hearts.

A special thank you to the Nurses, health care providers and volunteers at Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener for their wonderful care and comfort.

Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories of Clara with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home in Waterloo on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 5 - 8 p.m. A funeral service will follow at Waterloo Christian Reformed Church, 209 Bearinger Rd., Waterloo on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
