Obituary of Anita Ada Schabl
Anita Ada Schabl, also known by her friends and family as Momma, Mom, Nanny, Ada, and Tee was born March 9, 1930 in Kitchener. Anita passed away at her home on November 15, 2022 at the age of 92.
Anita leaves behind her daughters Sandra MacIntyre & Barbara Owen. Cherished Grandmother of Abbie Zech (Peter), Spencer, Olivia and Charlotte (Owen). Beloved Great-Grandmother to Marla Rae (Zech).
She will be profoundly missed by her eldest sister Elaine Pernfuss, younger sister Marilyn Rich (Bill), brother in-law Frank Schabl, and all her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Anita was predeceased by her parents Edgar and Ada Wilhelm, her husband and love of her life Ray, son Bobby, son-in-law Mark Owen and her two best friends Elaine Vandewater and Eileen Lovett.
Anita had a special kindness and gratitude behind her smile. She radiated positivity wherever she went and was truly a joy to be around. She enjoyed many things in life such as playing cards, Sunday afternoon drives with Ray, reading mystery novels, watching the Kitchener Rangers, but above all else, her family. As long as she was with her family, she was happy.
Anita was the life of the party and never let her age slow her down. Her sense of humour and wittiness was something her friends and family loved about her. She is a reminder to cherish the little things in life, no matter how small they might seem. We will treasure all the memories we made with Anita over the years.
Anita was someone you could always count on to listen intently, joke around with, and put a smile on your face. Anita’s presence and memory reminds us of several important lessons in life: Have fun, laugh often, smile lots, but above all, be thankful.
To honour Anita’s wishes, a private burial has taken place. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
