Gail Dianne (Franklin) Shantz RN

Gail passed away peacefully on November 27, 2022 at Grand River Hospital surrounded by family after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Gail was born in Quebec City to Audrey Francey (2007) and Ronald Franklin (1967). She is survived by her husband Alexander Shantz and her son Steele (Eunika) and the apple of her eye, grandson Quin. She leaves behind her sweet friend Dekker, her very best friend Nancy Stayzer and many relatives and friends she’s made over the years.

Gail graduated from K-W Hospital School of Nursing in 1973 and worked at K-W Hospital, now Grand River Hospital for 47 years. She worked in many departments throughout the hospital where she made many friends, but the last 15 years in Medical Imaging were the absolute best. She loved every minute of her career and always knew nursing was her true calling. She was passionate about her patients and giving them the best care possible. Gail and her family would like to thank her oncology team at Grand River Hospital for their kindness and compassion.

Cremation and a private burial have taken place. A Celebration of Gail’s life will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 2:00pm at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo.
