Obituary of Mary Glenys Petersen

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022, with her children, grandchildren and family by her side. Beloved sister to William (Bill) McGrath, and sister-in-law Sherry McGrath, and Sonja Kristiansen. Beloved mother to Jacqueline Berger and James Petersen. Loving grandmother to Andrew Petersen, Brandon Berger, Jack Berger, Brooke Petersen, and Britney Petersen.  She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews Shelagh, Gus, Billy, Andrea and Sean, Claus and Morten Jørgensen, her great niece and nephew Serena and Luke, Carlo, Frank Trentadu and Liam McGrath, as well as other extended family members. She is predeceased by her loving husband Preben Emil Petersen, her parents Augustus and Elizabeth McGrath, her brother Augustus McGrath, as well as her adored niece Glenys McGrath.

She was born in the colony of Newfoundland prior to the confederation of Canada and was very proud of her Irish and Newfoundland heritage. She moved to Denmark in 1972 with her two children and the love of her life by her side. Homesickness got the best of her, and they all returned in 1976 where they settled in Waterloo Ontario and became members of the Danish Club near Guelph Ontario.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Monday December 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Phil Reilly C.R. officiating.
