Obituary of Edna Margaret Heasell
September 23, 1931 – December 14, 2022
Edna danced her last dance on Wednesday December 14, 2022, at the Wingham and District Hospital. Born September 23, 1931, in Bognor Regis England, Edna emigrated to Canada in 1965. Predeceased by her dancing, bridge, travel, and sparring partner Ted in 2015, Edna passed peacefully with her daughters Alex Hutchison (Rob Hutchison) and Jacquie Skinner (Gary Cuthbertson) by her side, along with her trusted nurse and dearest companion, Doris Schraa.
Edna had many talents which she shared generously with friends and family. She was a gifted teacher, artist, seamstress, and gardener. She also loved her neighbourhood bridge clubs.
Edna adored her grandchildren and their partners Tim (Julia) and Leah (Ben). She was delighted beyond measure by the addition of two great grandchildren (Daphne and Calvin). She will be greatly missed by the entire Hutchison clan who adopted her as a surrogate Mum.
The family would like to thank the remarkable second floor nurses, Dr. Antoniadis, Kate Durfy N.P., Matt di Giovanni at Royal Oaks pharmacy, the staff at the Villa at Nine Mile and especially Doris Schraa for their compassionate care of Mum over the years. Special mention should also go to her incredible neighbours without whom she never would have been able to stay in her home for as long as she did.
Mum disliked winter with an intensity that is hard to describe. As per her wishes we will gather to remember our mother, friend, and grandmother when the weather is nicer on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 2-4 pm at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S., Waterloo.
Should you so choose, donations to Medecins Sans Frontier, Mennonite Central Committee or the Wingham & District Hospital would be appreciated and may be arranged through the funeral home www.erbgood.com
