Obituary of Verna Mae Snyder

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Verna Mae Synder (nee Bender) on December 19, 2022, at the Sunnyside Home Long Term Care. Verna was pre-deceased by her husband Aden Snyder. She is survived by her children John Mark (Lorraine) Snyder, Millard (Cathy) Snyder, Rachel (Bob) Morouney, and Timothy Snyder. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Stephanie (Alvin) Grantham, Becky (Rusty) Carroll, Matt (Roxanne) Snyder, El (Brandon Smith) Snyder, and Alana (Alex Thomas) Morouney as well as 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Ruth Ann Reist, and her three brothers Marcus, Ed and Earl Bender. She will also be missed by many extended family and friends.

Verna was born May 8, 1924, to her loving parents Aaron and Magdeline Bender (nee Gingerich). Verna Mae was passionate about helping others and this led her volunteering her time further to work at the Fairview Home, Sunnyside Home and the Mennonite Thrift Store. As a young Lady she attended the Eastern Mennonite University for nursing and worked in the industry for a short period of time. She was extremely family oriented and was proud to work for over a decade at her family’s run business store, Quality Lighting. Verna Mae enjoyed working in her garden with her flowers and vegetables.

Verna Mae’s family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the staff of Buttonworks at the Sunnyside Home for the exceptional care that Verna Mae received.
