I have really good memories of Glen and Elsie growing up at Erb St Mennonite. As a kid, they were some of the few adults at church that I knew by name and were comfortable talking with. Grace would have known better what to say; maybe the two of them are chatting right now as part of the "extended" Erb St community.
He made a difference.

Dear Shantz Family:
We have fond memories of Glen and Elsie at Erb St. They contributed a great deal to our church community. They were also good friends of our parents, Roy and Clara Snyder. Glen and Dad did a lot of golfing together in their retirement. Elsie and Mom spent time together at sewing circle. We hope that fond memories help you at this sad time. Our sincere condolences. I had been given the pleasure of caring for Glen these past few years. An always very thankful, pleasant, polite and generous man who touched my heart. A loving man who would reach out to hold & kiss his wife's hand - a gesture I recognized early on, as one being very special & important to him - showing his Elsie his endless love. Whether it was dining with one another, soaking up the summer heat together, reading his daily papers, enjoying his bananas, Cheetos & apple sauce, or simply being next to each other enjoying a sing song....togetherness & true love was witnessed at its finest. When I reflect...this truly puts a smile on my face. May you be resting in peace Glen and know that our days together will never be forgotten. With love, Paula Hummel.

Margaret and I were sorry to hear of Glen's passing. We both have many fond memories relating to Glen and Elsie and their family, mostly in connection with our shared experiences attached to Rockway Mennonite Collegiate. During my days at Rockway as Development Director and wearing many hats in terms of responsibility that included fundraising, alumni affairs and facility management, we had many reasons to connect. Glen & Shantz Electric could always be counted on to take care of the electrical needs (sometimes urgent and at off hours), and Elsie with the work of the Women's Committee. Both as a business and a family, they were also very generous as donors to the financial operating and capital needs essential to Rockway's survival (and their children attending), setting a good example for others. I enjoyed very much working with Glen, and especially appreciated his and his family's moral support in what were often challenging times, and will miss him. Sincerely, Glen Woolner
