Obituary of Margaret 'Diane' Roberts
Passed away peacefully at The Village at Humber Heights, Etobicoke on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the age of 83.
Beloved wife of the late Gordon H. Roberts (Feb. 9, 2022). She is welcomed into heaven by her cherished stepdaughter Janice. Diane was born to Margaret (nee Bradley) and Marion Curl on December 12, 1939, in Lake Worth, Florida, USA.
Survived by her son-in-law Neil (Susan Mey) Macdonald, and her precious grandchildren Andrew (Hillary), Kaitlin (Adil), and Christine (Evan), and her brother Dick (Martha and their children Richard and Sharon), and late brother Robert (Joyce and children Mark, Brad, and Michele) (both brothers born in London, Ohio), as well as her great-grand-children Bennett, Conrad, and Estelle. Di is also mourned by her step grandchildren Alison and Matthew Mey and the Macdonald clan.
Diane graduated from West Palm Beach High School in 1957 and achieved her Master’s degree in Dental Hygiene from Iowa State University. Diane met Gordie in a church in Bermuda where they were both vacationing and after Di won a Bermuda trip on a 25-cent church raffle ticket. They were married in Cape Elizabeth Maine on Dec 30 1982 and Di opted to leave her position as Dean of a dental hygienist college and move to Waterloo Canada with Gordie. Di immediately was warmly welcomed by the Westmount members and St John’s Church Community and by the multitude of Macdonalds who loved her dearly. Grandma Di and Gordie were special grandparents who showered their grandkids with love and much welcomed advice and said their special grace at every family gathering. They have left an indelible mark of goodness on this family and on everyone they met.
