Obituary of George Albert Hunsberger

George Albert Hunsberger passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the age of 79. George was a compassionate and interested mentor to countless people over his lifetime. He devoted his life to coaching, teaching, running student activities as a director, counselling, reading, walking, and watching college sports. Above all else, he loved his family and strove to be the best husband, father, and grandfather he could be. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play and succeed, and made sure to spend time with his beloved pets, especially the dogs. He was our “North Star,” defining what it meant to be a listener, teacher, leader, and coach.

George started his career at Forest Heights Collegiate and was one of Bluevale Collegiate’s absolute finest. He leaves a legacy of students and staff whose lives he touched.

George will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of over 50 years, Stephanie, children Jeff (Anne), Matt (Jerry), and Jill (Kevin), grandchildren Brittain, Cole, Reagan, Finn, and Mason, brother David (Ada), sister-in-law Emily, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents Greta and Albert, and his brother Bruce Hunsberger.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at St. George Banquet Hall, 665 King St. N, Waterloo, on Sunday, January 15^th from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm, with speeches to be shared at 2:30 pm.
