Obituary of John Gordon Fitton
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Gordon Fitton on January 22, 2023 in his 77th year. John died peacefully with his family by his side at Grand River Hospital after a long, hard-fought battle with liver disease.
Husband for nearly 50 years to Debbie (nee McGoey) Fitton. Father of Kathryn, Steven, and Allan (Beth). Grandfather to Andrew and Gordon. John is also survived by his sister Connie Roadknight (Bill predeceased), brother Bill Fitton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
John was born in Guelph to Gordon and Mary Fitton. He lived in Kitchener for the last 50 years where he was a General and Life Insurance Broker, also for 50 years. John was exceptionally kind and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed summers at the cottage at Sauble Beach. All the way up until the end, John always kept up with the news, and enjoyed a good movie or TV show.
John’s family will receive guests at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, January 25th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, with Parish Prayers at 8pm by Father Rafal Toman. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 173 Lourdes St., Waterloo on Thursday, January 26th at 10am, followed by fellowship in the church hall. A private burial service will take place at a later date.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Liver Foundation of Canada may be arranged through www.erbgood.com. Or, at John’s request, please take time to write to your local MPP about long-term care reform.
