Sincere condolences to the family of Beth Chapman. We had the pleasure and privilege of knowing the Chapman Family when they were with the North Gower - Carsonby Pastoral Charge. I enjoyed Sylvia as a friend and later, also spent some time with Moira, at a Junior Farmer (I think?) camp. So long ago, but what a wonderful legacy the Chapman’s left on our community. Blessings of peace as you cherish the memories of your dear mother. Kindest regards, Nora (Cowell) and Jim McEwen

A life very well lived by a remarkable woman. During their ministry in North Gower, Reverend Douglas Chapman christened myself and my two younger brothers. I have great childhood memories of play-times with Sylvia and my brothers adventuring in the backyard with Lex. The Chapmans were good friends as well as neighbours across the street to my great-uncle Lorne and great-aunt Helen Parks.
Godspeed Reverend Chapman and peace be with your family.

Beth was a trailblazer for women in ministry. Her leadership inspired many of the generation who followed. I remember her grace and wisdom as President of London Conference. I also remember the note she sent me when my father died. Her words comforted me then and I’ve offered them to others who were grieving since. She spoke of our tears as a tribute to our loved one; their loss was worthy of our tears-only Beth stated that more eloquently. Many of us will be shedding tears as Beth’s life is celebrated today. May God be with you and may God’s presence strengthen you.

To the Chapman family.
My grandmother Amy Chapman and my mother Elsie Chapman-Hyland of North Gower, ON spoke very highly of your mother and attended the United Church in North Gower when your parents were in North Gower.
I do remember meeting her as very young child and she was a beautiful person.

What a wonderful woman. Rev Beth filled in for a few maternity leaves at Union United and she was loved by all of us. She gave me the sheet music for Morning Has Broken for me to remember her by and it’s still in collection by my organ. She will be missed.

My prayers are with the family of Rev. Beth Chapman whom I was privileged to know when she ministered in Chatham-Kent. Her
grace, compassion and wisdom were constant and made her a woman who taught and inspired others just by being herself. May God comfort and give peace to you, her family, and to all who were blessed by her life and faith. Prayerfully, Pastor Marg Moriyama

Doug and Beth lived across from me in Millers Cove. They were a wonderful example of Christian love and commitment. I was able to offer support to Beth the evening Doug passed away. May you find comfort in knowing they are once again together in heaven. They left the world a better place

My deep condolences to the Chapman family. Mrs. Chapman was a beloved Minister in Kintore United Church and a community leader. One of very few female ministers at the time, she was a trail blazer and her teachings from the pulpit were impactful and resonate to this day - Marcia Woods.

Jim and Mary Anne Simpson take this opportunity to express our sympathy to the family of the Rev. Beth Chapman.
Lex, it was good to re-connect with you recently. You spoke highly of your parents, and Mac, you have been very present for your sister.
She had a full, rich life and her support of so many folks over the years cannot be quantified.
……..to live respected and die regretted…..

Mrs Chapman was an impactful individual in my teen years. Leading a confirmation class in the early 1970s, she urged a group of 13-year-olds to question things and make informed decisions. She provided us with books to read, took us to faith services outside of familiar ones, and prompted us to consider "why" as the most important "W" question. Too young to recognize the importance of her message, her teachings stuck with me and likely shaped the person I am decades later. I am grateful—Lois Rowe (nee Woods), originally from Kintore, Ontario.
