Obituary of Gertrude "Gertie" Gillies
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gert Gillies on Friday February 3, 2023. Dear aunt of Gail Bauder, Julie Bauder (Bert Ross), great aunt of Robyn Catarau, Lauren Renaud; great-great aunt to Sophie, Zoe and Jonathan. She is predeceased by her parents Karl and Margaret Bauder, husband Donald Gillies, son Timothy Gillies and brother Carl.
Gert was an active member of Granite Curling Club and Rockway Golf Club where she played her favourite sports for many years. Famous for her annual Christmas Eve parties and love of her favourite singer, Johnny Mathis. She lived life to the fullest and was active and busy up until age 95!
Gert celebrated her 100th birthday on January 29, 2023. She will be greatly missed by many friends and relatives.
A celebration of Gert’s life will be held on Saturday May 27, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo.
Special thank you to the dedicated staff of Columbia Forest who cared for Gert while she resided there for a number of years.
