Worked with Dr. Karrow on Manitoulin Island in the spring of 1989. We traversed every backroad on the Island in search of shoreline features of glacial and postglacial lakes, which were meticulously surveyed with an old school alidade and plane table. Meticulous, keenly observant, and one of the easiest people in the world to work with and share a motel room with for a month was he. He never once complained, despite meal after meal of french fries, but he was most delighted when we came upon a restaurant that offered a side of simple boiled potatoes. A class act through and through.

Dr. Karrow was a quiet dignified man. We often crossed paths in the hallway as we were leaving the UWaterloo Earth Science-Chemistry building in the evening. I later met up with him when he was living in the Clair Hills Retirement Home. Again, he was often quite solitary but if asked about his research, he would readily chat about it. A lovely individual and obviously so very accomplished. My condolences to your family on his passing.
