Obituary of Gerald Allan Binkley
Gerald passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 93 on Friday February 17, 2023. He is pre-deceased by his Wife Florence (nee Watson) in 2015 and Grandson Danial Binkley in 2019.
Loving Father of Terry of Waterloo and Martin (Theresa) of St. Jacobs. Proud Boppa of Jessica Baechler (Jeff), Carolyn Binkley and David Binkley (Amy). Great Grandpa of Draven, Kyra, Liam, Emma, Hudsn, Finn and Ben.
Gerry was a talented machinist who learned his craft while working at his Father’s shop in Preston before moving to Hamilton to work at the McCoy Foundry. In 1965 he moved the family to Waterloo to open his own business Binkley Pattern and Machine Ltd. Which thrived until his retirement.
He was active throughout his life playing inter-county baseball for the Galt Terriers, officiating as a linesmen in the OHA, evening bowling leagues to countless rounds of golf. As a master woodworker he kept busy in retirement with many projects ranging from kids toys to full home renovations.
He enjoyed travelling, camping and fishing with family and friends, spending winters in Florida and summers at the cottage in Sauble Beach.
Special thanks to those friends and neighbors he met along the way, the congregation at Christ Lutheran Church in Waterloo, and the support staff at the University Gates LTC.
The memorial visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday February 22, 2023 from 1:30-2:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life to follow in the chapel of the funeral home. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated and can be arranged at www.erbgood.com.
