Larry Shantz

Obituary of Larry Shantz

Now reunited with his loving wife of 48 years, Dianne (née Brubacher; 2021), Larry passed away peacefully at Hospice Waterloo Region on Wednesday February 22, 2023, at the age of 71.  Loving father of Troy (Cory) and Brent (Leigh Anne Swayne).  Proud grandfather of Claire and Cameron Shantz. Larry will be remembered by his brother Murray (Carol) Shantz and sisters Carolyn (Howie) Wideman and twin sister Linda (Lou) Shantz-Keresztes.  Dear brother-in-law of Linda (Ken) Bender, Pat (Art) Klassen, and Jennifer Horne (Gord Hammer).  Greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Etta (2012) and Lloyd (2005) Shantz, parents-in-law Irvin (1980) and Helen (2016) Brubacher, and his niece Emilee (2010).

Larry was a farmer through and through and was a proud owner of Rosendale Farms with his brother until his retirement in 2005.  Dianne and Larry enjoyed retirement with golf, travel, and spending time with friends, family, and the grandchildren. Larry was also a sports lover, always being there for his Boston Bruins, New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. More importantly, Larry had many life-long friendships that he cherished.
