Obituary of Harold John McAulay

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jack McAulay. Loving husband and best friend to Marion for over 52 years. Devoted father to Erin (Scott), Heather and Michael (Bethany). Papa to Gillian, Mark, Brianne, Matthew, Benjamin, Nicholas, Evan, Aiden and Sophie. Great-grandfather to Jaxson, Malia and Alice. Loving companion to furry friend, Kirby. Dear brother to Brian and Bob (Kelly). Jack was predeceased by his parents John and Evelyn McAulay.

Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a man of few words, but the love for his family was unconditional and unwavering. Jack was a dedicated father and baseball fan who faithfully coached his children’s baseball teams every year. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play and followed the Toronto Blue Jays devotedly. He created special memories with each of his children including fishing with Erin and Heather and golfing with Michael.

Jack had a lifelong appreciation for golf, learning at a young age and enjoying many rounds with his parents as a child. He continued his love for the sport and looked forward to golf courses opening each spring, especially Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club where he spent much of his retirement. Countless summers were enjoyed on the shores of Lake Huron cottaging with his family.

Jack was well-established in the insurance industry and during his career he advanced through many positions at Manulife Financial, including insurance advisor and claims adjuster. He retired after seven successful years as the Director of Information Technology at Manulife Bank in 2007.

At Jack’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Condolences for the family and donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada may be arranged at www.erbgood.com
