Obituary of John Frederick Gruhn
John Frederick Gruhn passed away suddenly on Saturday April 1st at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto at the age of 76. He was born on August 7th 1946 in Kitchener to Doris and Frederick Gruhn.
John graduated from Humber College as a Funeral Director and worked at the family business The Gruhn Funeral Home for a number of years. He then moved to Toronto where he worked in real estate, retail photography and industrial sales. John was an avid supporter and volunteer for the KW Octoberfest Committee for many years. He enjoyed fishing at his cottage at Kawagama Lake as well as playing tennis, volleyball and pickle ball and in later years hiking and biking.
John is survived by and will be missed by his loving partner Nadia Bilyk of Oshawa, his brother Peter and his wife Margaret as well as their families. John was preceded in death by his parents Doris and Frederick Gruhn. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the Erb and Good Funeral Home in Waterloo. Internment will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Kitchener.
