Obituary of Eleanor Grace Good

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the age of 97. 

Eleanor was a kind, noble, and steadfast person who was always up for an adventure. As a young woman, she left her family farm for a job in the city at Smiles and Chuckles – a chocolate and candy factory. There she met a group of women whose friendships would last a lifetime, and they were known as “The Club.” Eleanor was one of the last few surviving members of The Club, and yet, it was always so important to her to keep those remaining friendships alive. After the factory, Eleanor was a dedicated mother and homemaker for 13 years, then returned to the workforce at K-Mart for over 20 years. She also enjoyed playing Euchre, travelling the world with her cousin Vera, and was a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.

Eleanor will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children Marilyn Good (Luke Matthys) of Burlingame, CA, and David Good (Darlene) of Caledon, grandchildren Spenser Good (Michelle) of Guelph, and Kinsey Good (Michael Laanvere) of Alliston, nephews Doug Scott and Steve Scott, and her niece Kim Scott.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold Good, parents Vera and Percy Peppler, sister Bernice Scott (nee Peppler), brother-in-law Edward “Ted” Scott, and her nephew Tom Scott.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Columbia Forest LTC for the exceptional care and compassion they showed to Eleanor.

A Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, April 18^th from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. A Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home’s chapel on Wednesday, April 19^th at 1:00pm. Interment at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Heidelberg. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
