I have just watched the Celebration Service for Doris' life. It was beautiful, touching and represented the essence of who she was and I know Doris would have loved it. We are grateful for the love and happiness she shared with Bob if only for a few short years.

My Dad, Bob Miller, sadly, didn't have a long marriage with Doris. He was so proud of her accomplishments and skills. He called her a 'force of nature'. Doris made the last years of my father's life very happy and I am grateful to her for that. She was a fascinating woman with an amazing positive attitude.

Today we are thinking of all the wonderful times our families had together, starting across the pond in Beechwood, on the Bruce Peninsula and again at Luther Village.
Visiting, laughing, stories and Wednesday afternoon G&T's. There are so many memories of her caring personality and warm welcoming smile. She meant so much to us and others through her activities and interests. She was so inclusive to us in small touching everyday activities.
Our thoughts and sympathy go out to Tom, Rosemary, Bruce and all the grandchildren.

Aunt Doris was fun, outgoing, positive, very social and far younger at heart than her age. She had many interests and introduced me at a young age to cultural venues such as museums, the Ice Capades and Sound of Music. She loved a good chat and we had many in and around the Lemon and Hood cottages at Cameron Lake. Her in-depth research and books on genealogy of the Berry and Hood side of our family, United Empire Loyalists and news about the whereabouts and activities of our cousins and other relatives that were scattered across Canada and the US instilled a sense of belonging in me and my children Shawn and Alexandra. Aunt Doris was always so happy to see us and we looked forward to seeing her and perhaps playing a game on our many trips to the cottage over nearly 50 years. She will be sorely missed.
The photo is Aunt Doris with her brother Doug (my Dad)

Aunt Doris was an inspiration to me as a young fella, Art, Music, Culture, History, Cooking, the wonders of Nature and Family. All vitally a huge part of my life’s journey. I’ll miss measuring kids against the flag pole at the cottage, popcorn at the dock while listening to whipper wills and Loons
A shining light has left the planet and now sparkles in the northern sky.
Love Steve

Decades ago Doris and I arranged to meet in Woodstock for the first time since it was halfway between Waterloo and London. We had much common ground in our researching and shared information and our books. You will be missed in person but your writings will live on. Thank you Doris.

Aunt Doris, thank you, bless you, your gifts to me, have guided my life. You showed me our culture and our history, introductions to world class music, art, food, theatre. You helped me see the world we live in. I stand in gratitude to your mentorship and love. The spring frogs sing for you tonight. Steven Lemon
