I just was looking up Dr Ord today after telling my current (and last) PhD student a story from my time in and after Waterloo grad studies. I had spent quite a few years in the NMR lab that was across the hall from his lab. The story is one of my faves.
It involved a visit to Waterloo to give a talk on Medical Physics a few years after I had graduated and I visited the little physicist's room to clean up before the talk. Jack walked in, looked up at me and said, "Are you still here?".
I do think he winked. He was a gentleman.
