Obituary of Lois Muriel Mainland

August 29, 1937 – June 01, 2023

Mainland, Lois Muriel (nee Hartlieb) passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Thursday June 01, 2023 in her 86^th year. She was welcomed to heaven by her husband, John Mainland, and her granddaughter Lauren Mainland.

Loving mother to Laurie Planta (Jack), Doug Mainland and Brian Mainland (Rhonda). Proud grandmother of Michael (Patty) and Ross (Allison) Quigley, Kyle Mainland, Roslyn (Tanner) and Deanne (Brett) Mainland. Loving GG to Claire and Grace Quigley.

Lois was a long-time member of Kitchener Gospel Temple and Sauble Christian Fellowship. Most recently, Lois resided in Waterloo at Parkwood Mennonite Home and prior to that Kingsway Arms Elgin Lodge in Southhampton.

Jack and Lois created wonderful memories at the cottage in Southampton, often eating ice cream while watching the sunset. Especially in their later years, Jack and Lois escaped the cold weather spending many of the winter months in Florida. At home they spent many happy hours with their beloved dog, Buttons, as well as Trina and all her adorable puppies.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elgin Lodge and Parkwood for Lois’ care. We would also like to thank the nursing staff at Grand River Hospital ER, ICU and 6N for their exceptional care for Mom and her family. We would especially like to thank Dr. Moolman and the palliative team for providing Mom with compassionate end of life care.

Her unwavering faith provided her with comfort knowing she was going to be with her Lord and family who were waiting to receive her in heaven.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday June 27, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 12:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Private family interment will occur at a later date.
