Obituary of Roy William Pajunen
July 19, 1937 - June 2, 2023
On June 2, 2023, Roy Pajunen, of Woodstock, Ontario passed from this life into the presence of his Saviour at the age of 85.
He is now reunited with his brother Ray, and first wife Alice, who passed away exactly 25 years ago to the day.
He will be sadly missed by his sweetheart and wife of 20 years, Nellie (nee Luymes); sons, Paul (Kathy), Martti (Karen), Steve (Birgit), and Tim; grandkids, Melissa (Colin), Nathan, Brandon (Lauren), Mariah (Aaron), Brianne (Ty), Max (Lisa), Tristan, Hayden and Nolan; and great-grandchildren, Charleigh, Gavin, Declan, Ocean, Lincoln, and Liam. Roy will be fondly remembered by his brother Ron (Margo) and sister-in-law, Andrée, along with the Hayden family, the VanGeest family, and the Luymes family as well as many extended family members and friends.
Roy was born in South Porcupine and loved returning north to his cottage on Barber’s Bay. He moved to Waterloo to attend university and began his 35-year teaching and administrative career with the WRDSB.
Loved by so many people, he was the essence of optimism, because every day for him was “tickety-boo”. A mentor, educator, fisherman, fan (sometimes begrudgingly) of the Leafs, community and church volunteer, proud Finlander, and most of all, a dedicated disciple of Jesus.
There will be a private family service to say goodbye to Roy, but we look forward to a celebration of life gathering in the future. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Gideon's Bible Society (now called ShareWord Global) would be appreciated.
