Obituary of William Clair Glass

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Glass on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in his 94th year. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years, Donna (Croth) and his seven children, David, Linda (Chris), Susan, Pamela, Kelly (Bill), Catherine (Randy) and Bill (Jen). Also survived by his younger brother John, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents Clair and Thelma, father and mother in law Charles and Gladys, sister in law Jean, brother in law Bob and his son in law Steve. His love for family was insurmountable.

Bill was born in Ferndale, Michigan but moved to Fredericton as a young boy and attended the University of New Brunswick. He began his career at Mutual Life as an agent and later transferred to their head office in Waterloo where he met the love of his life, “his bride”, Donna. It was love at first sight and a great union of everlasting love, commitment and family. His career was very important to him helping others plan for their futures and their loved ones which is a testament to how he lived. He dedicated 40 years with the company as an agent and branch manager in Cambridge with a brief time working in Connecticut and California. After retirement he continued to do Consulting across Canada. He and Donna and sometimes family and friends enjoyed travelling to many locations around the world. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and a friend and mentor to many. He tackled problems head on and after surviving a heart attack at 51 he was given a new outlook on the importance of a healthy lifestyle which he later would share as a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital working with heart attack survivors. He lived his life by “the situation is the boss” which gave him the fight, the will and ability to handle the twists and turns in life. Our fond memories of childhood vacations, adult vacations at their timeshare in St. Maarten and a sip of Single Malt Scotch will hold forever in our hearts and memories as we celebrate the life of this amazing man. We will love and miss you always.

The family is grateful for the wonderful caregivers in keeping him safe and comfortable. The Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15th from 11am – 11:45am at Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, with the Funeral Service to follow at 12pm in the chapel.
