For two years, in the 60's, Heinz was my home room teacher at WCI in Waterloo. Long before Community Colleges existed he was an active advocate of such institutions. Although he knew his technical stuff, I remember him most for his life stories and quirky historical anecdotes. We learned of Edison and Tesla and went to the Ontario Hydro Museum. Practical stuff that stays with you for life. He hired a bunch of us students to nail drywall at the mansion he was constructing out in the country.
We learned how to put heart and soul into a project. He taught us honesty, integrity and a passion for learning. A true teacher.
Almost 50 years after graduation by chance met him again with friends and family on the shores of Lake Huron. He profoundly had changed the Ontario technical curriculum to the benefit of many generations.
He has done so much good work, for so many, for so long.
Thousands of us students will always be thankful for his life lessons.
