Obituary of Laszlo Tako
Tako, Laszlo (Leslie)
August 3, 1932- June 16, 2023
Passed away, peacefully, with family by his side, on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Grand River Hospital, Freeport Campus, at the age of 90.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth Tako (nee More) of 59 years, Leslie is survived by his son, Zoltan Tako and daughters, Gail Tako and Judi Douglas (nee Tako). He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Eric Douglas, Alexander Kerr and Samantha Kerr.
Leslie was born in Hungary on August 3, 1932, and immigrated to Canada during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 to make a better life for himself. He met and married Elizabeth in 1962. He was a loving husband and father who was always available when we needed him.
He worked as a drywaller until he retired at the age of 65. Known as a workhorse, he spent long days on job sites and, upon returning home, spent many more hours tinkering, fixing and building things around the house from beds for our dolls to sheds for the backyards. He was a chauffeur, often driving us to parks and playgrounds, fastball games and tournaments.
He will be forever loved and forever missed. Special thanks to Freeport Hospital for their care and support given to Leslie.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held on a later date.
