Obituary of Hans Peter Kahlen

It is with profound sadness that the family of Hans Kahlen of Waterloo announce his peaceful passing in his sleep surrounded by his loving family in the early morning hours of June 20th, 2023, at the age of 86.

Hans will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Christiane (Platthaus); dear father of Grischa (Dana), Britta (Walter) Jan (Jennifer), Gunter, his grandchildren Georg, Max, Peter, Nikol, Mona, Jacob, Noah, Lucas, Bastian, Maika, 5 great grandchildren as well as numerous other family members and friends. 

Hans was born in Germany in 1937 working hard to put himself through school and eventually obtaining his Civil Engineering Degree. After years of successfully operating in his field, Hans decided to follow his dream to move Canada in 1984. Settling with his family in Waterloo, Hans continued his success in the construction and land development industries while always taking time to enjoy his many passions including exploring the great outdoors. Hans will always be remembered for his love of family and his strength of will. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to the House of Friendship would be appreciated by the family. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
