Obituary of Janice Ellen Long (nee Copping)
Suddenly and peacefully at home with Robert by her side on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the age of 76.
Survived by her loving husband Robert Long of 33 years, her children Brad Siim, Kathy Winter, Brent Long, Cathy Long, Julie Long, her dear grandchildren (Cameron/Lindsay/Elizabeth, Brooklyn/Trenton, Garrett/Peter, Alita/Nolan, Jacob), her siblings Doug Copping, Ava Chamberlain, Frank Copping, Stan Copping and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Stan and Avis Copping, Rodger Siim, and sister-in laws, Sharon and Cathy Copping.
Janice was born in Hamilton, Ontario and spent her early years with her family in Winona where she loved the outdoors with her brothers and sisters. You could often find her either in a tree or sitting in the fields eating cucumbers, tomatoes, peaches and grapes.
Janice's first jobs were at the Stoney Creek dairy and ED Smith followed by a wonderful 20-year career in Human Resources at Procor Limited in Oakville where she lived for many years and raised her family together with Rodger.
In 1988, Janice's life transitioned. She met dear Robert and moved to Burlington. They spent many long and loving years together enjoying family time, travelling the world, camping, skating, golfing, entertaining and making many dear friends.
A naturally loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbour. Always and forever putting others before herself. ALWAYS. Janice extended her heart and hand to everyone and she always let you know how much she loved and cared for you. We are all better for having known Janice.
Janice especially loved her grandchildren -- cherishing every moment and supporting their ambitions and watching them grow from babies into fine young women and men.
Forever creating through avid sewing, knitting, smocking, baking, cooking. Every visit ended with Janice sending you home with bags of goodies.
At Janice’s request there will be a visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, July 4th from 5pm – 6pm at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, followed by a private family graveside service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association may be arranged through www.erbgood.com.
