La Plante Muriel Reva (nee Allison) also known to many as “Alyson”
June 11, 1930 – June 30, 2023
After a battle with cancer that began Christmas morning 2022, she passed away peacefully in her own home, as this was her wish. Beloved wife of 23 years to Gerard (Gerry) the love of her life, who passed in 2007. Pre-deceased by her parents John and Meta, birth mother Verna Whitlock, sisters Marian and Margaret, and many friends and relatives. She leaves to mourn her brothers Roy (Margaret) and Ronald (Beulah).
Bell Canada was her only employer, from the age of 16. She spent 40 years with them and retired at age 55 but continued to volunteer as editor of the Bell Pioneers' newsletter as well as sending out birthday and sympathy cards. She had a very brave and adventurous spirit, and some of her favourite memories were the excitement she and Gerry had while travelling and exploring many countries.
Alyson will be greatly missed by many, especially Florence Richards, her best friend from P.E.I., who spent a wonderful week with her in May celebrating 50 years of friendship, and Gina Anderson her private caregiver for the last 12 years. Special thanks go out to so many friends and neighbours, the McCready-Branch clan, Ellie and Fraser, Judy, Gord, Lee, the amazing team of PSW’s including Carmen, Marty, Nat, Rosie, too many to mention, and the palliative care team. All incredible angels, Nick (pharmacist), Dr. Susan Irwin her dedicated family doctor and Rev. Chris Fickling of St. James-Rosemount United Church who with his visits helped her to find peace and gratitude during her difficult final stage of life. Blessings and thanks to all who assisted. She is our angel now.
