Douglas Graeme McKenzie passed away peacefully on Friday July 14, 2023, at Grand River Hospital’s Freeport Campus.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Mary McKenzie (née Dewar), dear father to James (Linda) and Gordon McKenzie and loving grandfather to Lexie and Matthew. 

Doug was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and after receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba, he came to Toronto where he met Mary and established his career working at Canadian Blower Canada Pumps Ltd. He and his young family then moved to Waterloo where he made his way up to president of the company. In addition to his busy career, Doug was member of the Rotary Club of Kitchener and was on the Board of Directors for the Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA. Prior to his retirement, he worked in economic development for the City of Waterloo. Doug had a keen interest in business and continued staying engaged as a member of the Retired Business and Professional Men's Club of Kitchener-Waterloo. In addition, for over 40 years, Doug was an active member and past president (1993) of Westmount Golf and Country Club and enjoyed golfing and curling throughout his life.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Westmount Golf and Country Club, 50 Inverness Dr, Kitchener, on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation for Freeport Campus' Palliative Care Unit may be arranged through the Erb & Good Funeral Home.
