Obituary of Donald John Fletcher

Don passed away peacefully at Freeport Hospital Palliative Care on Wednesday August 9, 2023, at the age of 66.

Don is survived by his two daughters Erin and Meghan. He will be greatly missed by his sister Brenda Savage. He is pre-deceased by his son Thomas, his loving parents Maurice and Iva Fletcher, and his brother Paul. He will be missed by his great friend and caregiver Coby and will be fondly remembered by extended relatives and friends.

Don enjoyed many years in his career of being a cab driver, which gave him the opportunity to speak with and meet new people daily, which he enjoyed. He always looked forward to the time he could spend with his parents and the trips that they would take together to Stratford and Bruce Country. A big part of his life was his church community and the people he made long-lasting connections with through the congregation at the Community Christian Reform Church, including retired Pastor Carel Geleynse and Pastor Tom Bonhof.

Coby would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the Grand River Hospital and Freeport Palliative Care Unit for all of their support and excellent care that they gave to Don. Heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and medical staff that came to his home throughout the last year to give assistance.

A private family interment will take place at a later date at Woodland Cemetery.
