Ian moved peacefully, into the arms of God, on August 25, 2023, at the age of 74. He is survived by his loving wife, of 48 years, Bonnie. Proud father of Patrick and Skye (Kyle) Norris. Devoted Papa to Paisley and Isla Norris. He is fondly remembered by his brother-in-law, Brad (Sharon) Kemp and his sisters-in-law Maureen Kemp and Sharon (Jeff) Ireland. Ian leaves behind much loved cousins, as well as many dear nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Albert Barton and Mary, his brother Barton and his sister Susan (Charles) King.

Ian was born in Port Arthur, Ontario, now Thunder Bay, and grew up in that area. He attended Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute before moving to Waterloo, Ontario where he attended the University of Waterloo. He graduated in 1973, with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked for many years within the plastics industry until he finally owned his own business representing resin suppliers. He was admired and sought out, for his expertise in this field.

Ian was a member of All Saint's Anglican Church for close to forty years. He was involved in many ways, including greeting, choir and Bible studies.

Ian's passions included his many friends, music, reading and his insatiable love of coffee. He was happiest when immersed in these things.

Over the years, Ian was active in volleyball, golfing, and squash. He enjoyed playing bridge, euchre, board games and loved a good game of chess.

Ian will always be remembered as having an incredible, positive attitude during his very long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, facing each new challenge head on. He never complained but faced each day, with amazing strength and fortitude. We rejoice with him now; no more wheelchair, no more pain!

Ian was very active, with the MS Society of Canada, especially in fund raising, for research. He was one of their top fund raisers for many years. He participated in many of the annual MS walks, in his wheelchair, being pushed by family and friends.

The family would like to thank the people who were truly dedicated to Ian's care during his time at Parkwood Senior's Community. Pastor Alan Cook, for his unfailing friendship, mentoring and help, to Ian, during his stay, in long term care. St. Mary's 5th floor nursing and RT staff, as well as Dr. Campbell, for their dedication to Ian's care and comfort during his last few days.

Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT)

'May the Lord bless you and protect you.

May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.

May the Lord show you his favour and give you his peace.'
