Obituary of Manuel Mello Sousa

July 2, 1924 – September 4, 2023

Passed away peacefully at University Gates, Waterloo, on Monday September 4, 2023 at the age of 99. Beloved husband of the late Naomi Sousa. Loving father of Mary Olivia and her husband Antonio Pereira. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Kevin and his wife Christine, Jason and his wife Teresa and granddaughter Leann Pereira and her partner, Sinan Alkabie. Cherished great-grandfather to Matthew, Mea, Michael, Marco and Odin. Survived by brother-in-law Luiz Macedo, nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A. and Azores. Predeceased by his sisters Maria Moniz, Elvira Raposo and Olivia Macedo.

The family appreciates the comfort given by Father Rafal Tomon, especially on Manuel’s last day. A special thank you to the staff at University Gates for their excellent care.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 173 Lourdes Street, Waterloo on Saturday September 9, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. with Father Rafal Tomon. Interment to immediately follow at Parkview Cemetery, 335 University Ave East, Waterloo.
