Obituary of Anwar Farid

Anwar Farid passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 1, 2023 at the age of 72.

Born in Bangladesh, Anwar served as a military General for many years before immigrating to Canada with his family. During his military career, he also served the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Haiti and Rwanda. Anwar loved nature and spent summers outdoors in his own garden. He loved golfing and played for many years with a zero handicap. His family and friends remember his kindness, helpfulness and that he was a true fighter. He was the pillar of the family and holds a very special place in our hearts. We miss him immensely, and find comfort in knowing he is home in eternity with God.

Anwar will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Ayesha Akhter, daughter Tahira Farid, son in-law Vassiliy Yatsik, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, grandchildren as well as many relatives and friends. Anwar's family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support and are grateful to his family doctor, all his doctors and care staff at the Grand River Hospital and home palliative care for their compassionate care and support.
