Glen: Our deepest sympathies to your family and all your friends at this time. So sorry to hear of your passing. We had a lot of good times back in the days when we worked at the London tax office. You will always be remembered for your amazing sense of humour and your witty repartee. Rest in peace, Schmitty.

I first met Glen back in around 1980. I recently started dating Cindy who belonged to a group called the "gravies". Glen was a member of this group, comprising male and females friends who had one purpose in life and that was "party and have fun" in ones teenage years. And wow could they party from what I have been told. At the time I met Glen I was a Police Officer and when I retired back in 2006 Glen and I became friends from our get togethers during those years. Glen could not attend my retirement party however sent a letter to me. I thought I would share some of Glen words from it . Glen starts with Pete. when Cindy told us she was seeing "a cop" needless to say this was a great shock to our system given the less than stellar reputation some of us, including Cindy enjoyed at the time. To us you were a foreign object which had always been avoided in the past. But you proved us wrong and did your best at trying to make Cindy respectable. I will not comment on your success level as it relates to that impossible task. The other was when I ran into Glen at Terminal 3 just after watching Theresa leave thru Security. Glen states he heard this loud voice yell " Police!! " Don't move. You're under arrest, where upon I was physically grabbed by the coat and pushed against the wall . I could see people stopping and watching this spectacle . As I turned around I saw you smiling face and saying how are you Glen it been awhile. This is the only time I have done something like it when not needed . Why because Glen's character, one who could take a joke as well as provide one . RIP Glen.

Back in 1987 I was drifting between jobs and really didn't know what I wanted to do for a living. I signed up for the CGA courses and MAN DID I LUCK OUT!!!. I had Glen for my first three courses. Very simply he was the best instructor I have ever had in my life. The reason I was successful in becoming an accountant was very simply, Glen Schmidt. His passion for the accounting profession, his wit, his cutting sense of humor and his deep sense of caring for his students made Tuesday nights something to really look forward to.
If I had not had Glen as an instructor I firmly believe my lfie would have turned out completely different. I will be forever thankful to Schmidty. Glen was one of the really ,really good people in this world. Rest in peace my friend.

Glen and I met regularly on the CGA professional development circuit - when we were both "on the road" delivering seminars. He also regularly presented the tax portion of my Controllership workshop. What a great friend and a "ray of light" Glen always was. He and I shared many laughs, and commiserated about the profession on many occasions. I miss him and hope we can all take solace when someone passes that he will be remembered as a fun, helpful, and caring individual. Prayers go to him and his family.

My sincerest condolences to Glen's family. I will very much miss him and his jokes that he sent around. I didn't take too many classes with Glen, but had the pleasure to work with him many times over the years. He always tried to bring a sense of humour to the work we had to complete. He was a great guy with very strong technical knowledge in many subject areas.
He will be missed by many.

Sincere condolences to Glen’s family and his multitude of friends.
Glen, I always refer to you as the sharpest mind I’ve ever met. The person I always loved entering a challenge of wits against, knowing I’d never win, but eager to see what you’d come up with.
Your intelligence, curiosity, and passion for teaching others is legendary. Your sense of humour, wit, and sarcasm brightened even the gloomiest days, and I’m not sure you ever knew how much we relied on you for a regular dose of humour to enjoy and share.
I’ll miss you, and I’ll think of you whenever a joke makes me literally laugh out loud, like the one attached.

Love Laura

To the family and friends of Glen, my condolences. I was fortunate enough to have Glen be my teacher for most of my CGA courses (taken in Hamilton over a 6 year period). Only he could make statistical analysis make sense. His depth of knowledge, his practical common sense and humour made learning very easy. Later as a colleague, fellow smoker at a time, and attendee to his many seminars I got to spend more time in his presence, always full of kindness and humour. So sorry for your (and the accounting world's) loss.

My deepest condolences to Glen's family and friends.
I truly am at a loss for words when it comes to expressing how much you personally meant to me. Without your support all those years ago when I was a student in the CGA program, I am not sure I would be an accountant today. Joining you as an assessor for the PA1 examinations made me want to be part of the education world and I credit the fact that I am a professor today to that opportunity. In addition to that you have always been a father figure to me, guiding me with your ultimate sarcasm! I am grateful that I was able to spend time with you recently to reminisce those great times while you were in hospital and I will forever miss you at our regular Zoom calls with the rest of the PA gang.
I still say to everyone, when I grow up (if I ever grow up), I want to be just like Glen, and now those words couldn't ring more true.
In true Star Trek fashion, since you and I are both die-hard fans: "Death is that state in which one exists only in the memory of others. Which is why it is not an end. No goodbyes. Just good memories. Hailing frequencies closed, sir." Tash Yar, Skin of Evil, Star Trek Next Generation.
You will always be in my heart Glen.
Love Lorraine

My deepest condolences to Glen's family and friends on his passing. This is a wonderful picture of Glen and just how I remember him in the many income tax seminars he facilitated.
He brought deep wisdom and experience, not to mention wit and humour to each of the sessions. He was a great resource to his colleagues and truly made a difference in our profession.
He was never short on stories that kept all of our attention.
Thank you Glen.

I extend my most sincere condolences to Glen’s family on his recent passing. I am so pleased that I was able to have had a long chat with him last month. We reminisced down memory lane as we remembered our times together on the CGA Ontario Board of Governors. He was a true professional and a great friend and will be sorely missed by a vast number of colleagues across the country. Glen always enjoyed stories of my naval career and in true naval tradition I now wish him fair winds and following seas. RIP

We share in the condolences to Glen’s family and friends.
Glen was a larger than life personality. Glen successfully lead the CGA legacy association. With the IMF, Glen enjoyed leadership in various countries, utilizing knowledge gained with the CRA. Glen’s intelligence and his sharp wit were unmatched. Glen helped many of us with his humour and empathy.
Thanks to Rosanne who took care of Glen for many years. Thanks to Glen’s “five amigos” who always kept in touch. Thanks to everyone who played a part in Glen’s life.
Glen will be missed.
