Ivanco Gail (nee Attwood)

October 12 ,1947- September 27, 2023

Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday September 27, 2023.

Survived by her loving husband of nearly 32 years John Ivanco, children Linda (Jeff) Phillips, Erica Hiemstra (Ian Griffith), Roger James Hiemstra (Carrie McAlister), Kathryn (David) Banner, and David (Maryrose) Ivanco. Her dear grandchildren Graham, Everett and Ava Phillips, Owen and William Griffith, Otis and Marlo Ivanco, and Eric Hiemstra as well as her sister Marilyn (Les) Trautman. Predeceased by her parents Eric and Corinne (nee Cross) Attwood.

Gail was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; lifelong teacher; caring friend; and accomplished painter. As a high school teacher, Gail inspired her special education, English and history students. In retirement, she combined her love of teaching and the arts as a painting and knitting instructor on luxury cruise lines. She became a world traveller with her loving husband John, and the experience was amazing for the two of them.

Special thanks to the staff at Grand River Hospital’s Cancer Centre and Freeport Campus Palliative Care Unit for the kindness, compassion and support provided to Gail and her family while she was in their care.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday November 18, 2023, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m. For those who are unable to attend in person a livestream link will be available at www.erbgood.com. A reception at the family home will follow.
