Obituary of Orval Vincent Reist

Orval Vincent Reist passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the age of 96.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Lori Budgell (Roy), sons Doug Reist and Don Reist, grandchildren Mike Danforth (Erin), Paul Danforth, Jenn Budgell, Dan Budgell (Brettany), and Gregory Reist, and his great-grandchildren Taylor Danforth, Quinn Danforth, and Maddox Jones.

Orval was predeceased by his wife Audrey Elaine Reist, and his parents Emmerson and Eleanor Reist.

Orval worked at Dare Foods until his retirement. He enjoyed watching hockey; his favourite team was the Montreal Canadiens. His favourite games were Euchre and Solo, both of which he was still playing right up until the last days of his life. Orval loved ice cream in almost any flavour. His favourite sweets were Elderberry Pie and Licorice Allsorts. He could often be found outside, working in the yard. Orval rarely complained about anything, and many people commented on that, along with his easy-going and happy personality, and his very good sense of humour. He loved to tease the staff at Sunnyside.

Special thanks to the staff at Sunnyside Home for their care and compassion. Orval thoroughly enjoyed his time there.

Friends and relatives are invited to a Visitation at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 2pm – 3pm, with a Memorial Service to follow in the funeral home’s chapel at 3pm. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery.
