After searching intermittently for years, I finally found Ted too late today. We worked together on archaeology projects in Alaska in 1979 and 1980. He was brilliantly funny (e.g., teaching us "Up the Queen!" and its crude response). Tales of his life fascinated me. Ted was indeed a gentlemen, kindly disposed, very worldly, adaptable, sharp and insightful, calm and uncomplaining, often modest, and one genuinely tough dude.
