Ward, Gerald “Gerry” John

June 4, 1947-October 28, 2023

Gerry died suddenly at Grand River Hospital on Saturday October 28, 2023, at age 76.

Loving father of Keith Ward and Karen (Terry) Kennedy. Grandfather of Beverly, Kealey, Aibhlin and Terry.

Predeceased by his parents Francis and Helen (née Stokoe) Ward.

Gerry was born in Laindon, England on June 4, 1947.  He apprenticed for Ford in England and went on to work there until December 1974 when he and his family moved to Canada.  He would go on to work for Babcock & Wilcox in Cambridge and finally Stackpole in Stratford. 

Gerry loved life and enjoyed talking with people.  Coming from an engineering background, he had a love of aviation as well as trains.  He also loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren who will all miss him dearly.  He will also be missed by his extended family in England including the Lewis family and the Bone family, Steve, Lesley, Matthew and Robert.

Special thanks to the third floor Dialysis team at Grand River Hospital, along with the emergency personnel who worked on him at the end.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday November 3, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00p.m.  Cremation is to follow.
