Obituary of Alan Foster

Foster, Alan

January 24, 1957- November 7, 2023

Passed away at Grand River Hospital on Tuesday November 7, 2023, at age 66, he suffered from a severe stroke and a brain hemorrhage. The staff at Grand River Hospital made his last days as comfortable as possible.

He was survived by his sisters Caroline and Elaine (Foster) Adair and her husband David.

Predeceased by his parents David (2016) and Geraldine (2023) and brother Bryce Foster (2020).

Alan was the first born in Cambridge, England. He enjoyed taking pictures of trains, planes and nature. Alan played hockey. He was a Bills and Manchester United fan. Alan worked at the Pizza Palace, Dominion Grocery store in his younger years. His long-time workplace was at NCR.

Alan took part in hikes, hockey and cross-country skiing as a child. Later in life he took part in a walking club and the occasional yoga class. Alan hiked most of the Bruce trail, he may have even completed it! He helped to clean trails and lead a few hikes.

He travelled on GRT system and was able to navigate all over the place. He would often go out and take pictures wherever he went. Sometimes he went on trips to Welland, Pelee Island, Wiarton, Owen Sound and Tobermory. He also took a few over seas trips. Alan visited his grandparents in England several times. He also went to Antigua, Grand Cayman Islands and Hawaii.

Alan was the photographer of all our family celebrations, birthdays, holidays and anniversaries.  I’m sure we will find more pictures when we empty his room and the house. There might be even more on his computer.

Alan had a lovely smile and gorgeous brown eyes that may help someone else to see.
