Obituary of Fred (James Frederick) Curren

No one loved life more than our brother and uncle, Fred Curren. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he is loved beyond words. He passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the age of 72.

Fred was the beloved brother to Janis and Craig Gosse, Dan and Kathi, John and Wendy, and the best uncle to Jennifer, Ben, Justin, Iris, Mandy, Kevin, Duncan, Bradley, Lyla, and Caden. Predeceased by his parents Jim “Red” and Mary Curren. Fred was a kind and gentle soul who was always optimistic. He was the definition of courage, determination and strength, remaining a role model to us all. Fred has a vast circle of true friends who are his extended family. His circle of friends grew over the years, sharing in his love for 30 years of refereeing basketball, coaching baseball, cycling, sailing, camping, and travel.

Friends and relatives are invited to a Visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, November 26 from 2pm – 4pm, and again on Monday, November 27 from 10am – 11am. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11am, and a reception will follow in the Fireside Reception Room. 

In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to KidSport may be arranged through www.erbgood.com.
