Obituary of Janet Gemmill

Peacefully passed in her 99th year at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener on Friday, November 18th, 2023.  Predeceased by husband and best friend Russell “Russ” Gemmill (married 71 years) and daughter- in-law Barb Gemmill (Jack). Loving mother of Jack (Karen) and Jim (Erika). Proud grandmother of Mark (Sabrina), Lance (Terra), Heather (Marty) and Michael (Sarah) and great-grandmother of Reid, Chloe, Sully, and Rory.
Janet graduated from secretarial school in Toronto, ON and her first job was in Administration at the Hydro office in Aurora, ON. Janet and Russ purchased the Culligan franchise in Goderich in 1959 and began their life as successful entrepreneurs for 35 years. Janet enjoyed golfing and boating with Russ and spending time with family and friends. She was also an avid Bridge player and quickly mastered any card game introduced to her. In retirement, Janet and Russ divided their time between Florida and Goderich and further pursued their love of golf. Janet enjoyed many years at their home on Essex St in Goderich overlooking beautiful Lake Huron with Russ until his passing at age 91. Janet was blessed with a long and happy life and will be missed by family.
Cremation has taken place.  A private family celebration of Janet’s life will be held in Goderich in the spring.
