Obituary of Peter Adam Grill

Peter passed away peacefully on Friday November 24, 2023 at the age of 73, in Waterloo.

Beloved husband of Deborah Black, loving father of Sarah Grill (Andrew), Mark Grill (Brandi) and Kathryn Kerr (Jon) and step-father to Laura Black and Spencer Black, devoted Grandpa Pete (GP) to grandsons Ben Grill and Julian Grill Heeren, and brother to Carolyn Mayeur (the late Serge) and Bernice Bauberger (the late Glenn). Uncle to Nicole Bauberger, Amanda DiRoma, the late Danielle Mayeur, Tim Mayeur and their families. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Elizabeth Grill and his late wife Lynne Mislai.

Peter was born in Orangeville, Ontario. He was a teacher with the Halton Catholic School Board and Waterloo District Catholic School Board, especially enjoying his time working with grade 8 students in the Mount Mary Retreat Program. He wholeheartedly enjoyed engagement in the Rockway Mennonite Church community and was actively involved working with the newcomer families sponsored by the church.

Peter loved supporting his family and had a heart for helping people and anticipating the needs of others. He enjoyed sharing his appreciation of music, designed building projects for loved ones, participated on recreational sport’s teams including hockey, golf, curling. It was with the curling and golf teams at the church that he found his deepest friendships — the ‘Rockway guys’.

Peter was a man of faith, a traveller, a backroad adventurer, a dog lover, a crossword and jigsaw puzzler and willing participant in family activities. He is deeply cherished by those who love him.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday December 1 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Rockway Mennonite Church, 47 Onward Ave., Kitchener on Saturday December 2, 2023 at 11a.m. followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. Cremation will have taken place and a private family interment will be held at Parkview Cemetery.
