Obituary of Betty Hackbart
Mom passed away peacefully after a long and fulfilling life. She leaves her son, Robert (Kathy) Bamberger, grandchildren Paul, Stephen and Angela and seven great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her first husband Harry Bamberger and her second husband Ken Hackbart, her parents Albert and Mary Martin and nine siblings.
Betty worked at Zehrs markets for over 25 years and truly enjoyed her job. She loved to interact with her customers and they appreciated the personal interest she took in each of them. Her hobbies included fishing, five pin bowling and solo travelling. With the arrival of grandchildren, mom devoted time and energy to develop a deep relationship with each of them. Mom embraced any challenge – be it a new recipe, adapting to technological change, or evolving fashion. Her body aged but her attitude remained contemporary. She spent these last years at Lanark Heights Long Term Care, where her needs were met through the efforts of attentive staff, especially committed personal support workers.
Cremation has taken place and the family will have a private memorial service. Interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to a charity of one’s choice may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S. Waterloo at www.erbgood.com
