October 16, 1947- December 14, 2023

Donny passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday December 14, 2023 at age 76.

Survived by his children Stephanie (Darcy) Choquette of Waterloo, Steven (Marlena) Rioux of Elora, Alexander Rioux of Kitchener, Jillian Rioux of Vancouver, grandchildren Ella, Hunter and Emerson, brothers Dennis (the late Olga) Rioux, David (Rose) Rioux.

Predeceased by his parents Lionel and Ruth (nee Hahn) Rioux.

Born and raised in Waterloo, Donny was a multi-sport athlete at St. Jerome's HS. After graduation, Donny began his 30 year career at Bell Canada as a lineman and splicer, which took him all over Ontario. Retiring in 1995, he was able to enjoy a long and healthy retirement. Donny was a passionate hockey player and fan, playing the sport for over six decades. His love for the Montreal Canadiens was trumped only by the love he had for his four children and his three grandchildren. If it was a clear and sunny day, no matter the time of year, you could find Donny putting kilometers on his bike. If he wasn't biking, you could find Donny in a local arena cheering for his grandchildren as they played the sport he loved so much.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Yew, Patricia, Chantel, Courtney, Emily, Hannah and Charlie for the care you provided for Donny through his journey. A very special thank you to all the staff and support partners at Home and Community Care Support Services for supporting Donny and his family through the hospice at home experience.

A celebration of Donny’s life will be held in the Fireside Reception Room of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday December 30, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. Cremation will have taken place.
