Obituary of John Leonard Schiedel

Beloved husband of Charlotte Fern Becker, Jack passed peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener, age 98 years. They were glad to be able to celebrate their 70^th Anniversary in July. He was born in Petersburg, Ontario to the late Lanson Schiedel and Lavina (Schmitt) on April 5, 1925.

Survived by his sister-in-law Inez Schiedel, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  

Predeceased by his brothers and their spouses, Harold (Edna), Wilfred (Marjorie), Carl (Jean) and sisters and their spouses, Edna Knarr (Edward), Mary Tatham (Joe), Dorothy McKee (George).

Jack was a dedicated salesman for J.M. Schneider’s Inc for 35 years, retiring in 1986.  Jack balanced his time between Waterloo Region and Muskoka where he and Charlotte enjoyed hosting many gatherings at their cottage in Bala. Strong in his faith, Jack was an active member of New Dundee United Brethren in Christ Church and more recently attended Bethany Missionary Church in Kitchener.

Charlotte and extended family will receive relatives and friends during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45  p.m. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
