From teaching me how to correctly spell your name in cursive, and how to burn out a clutch in your powder blue square bodied Chevy pick up, wiring a 3 way switch, to teaching me what triads, notes, and scales are, and sharing the camaraderie and feeling of what it’s like to jam with someone else. Uncle Darrell, you were a wicked awesome Uncle!! You’ve left me with many memories! From kidnapping me after closing time at the bar and driving 2.5 hours to a bluegrass festival, and going to concerts without a ticket and finding a way in, to introducing me to different music, songs, and sounds I never would have otherwise. Your fart jokes and unique sense of humor will carry on with me as I promise to share with my nephews. You’ve definitely had a hand in molding the person I am today! What a true gem and blessing to many this man was. He disliked the Facebook and social media world but I wanted to share the blessing in knowing him. He was a talented musician who was always up for a jam, a laugh or two with his dry sense of humour, always thanked you for coming to listen and looked forward to the monthly navy club get together, loved his family and loved a party. I am shocked by his passing, he will be missed and remembered at every get together. Darrell was so proud of me when I quit smoking that he took me to The Keg for dinner to celebrate. Darrell, you will be missed by many. RIP my friend. ❤️

I am so sad to learn of Darrell’s passing. Even though our moments together were brief in the past few years, he always reached out in the past and we shared some great conversations. I have many memories of him, all involving music in one way or another. I am sure his presence will be missed here but he will bring great joy to the big band in the sky.
