Obituary of James Michael Williams

James Michael Williams (Jamie) died peacefully in the afternoon of Monday, January 15, 2024 at Grand River Hospital surrounded by the love of his family in his 68th year. Jamie resided with his mother at her home in Morningside Village in New Hamburg. Jamie joins his father James (2013) and sister Catherine (1973).

Loving son of Joan Williams of New Hamburg, beloved brother of Tom (Donna) of Halifax, and Chris (Denise) of St. Agatha. Survived by his uncle Bill (Rose) Hannon, aunts Carol (and the late Ron Cuddie, 2023), Patricia and David Parker, and Gail and Gerry Curtis, and many cousins. Treasured uncle of Stacey Straus (Tom), David Williams (Sarah), Victoria Williams (Tyrus Clubb), Jeffrey, Kayleigh, and Serena Williams. Adored great-uncle of Lincoln, Weston, Cohen, Nolan, Violet, and Norah.

Born in 1956, Jamie was the second eldest of four children and grew up in St. Agatha, Ontario. Jamie attended Conestoga College and worked with his father in his commercial art business and took it over when his father retired. Jamie lived with his mother and took care of her after his father’s passing. Jamie enjoyed participating on the dart teams and bowling teams at Morningside Village. He was a member of the St. Agatha church choir for many years. Jamie’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was very proud of each and every one of us.

The family would like to thank the 5th floor medical and nursing staff of Grand River Hospital for the care they gave him in his final days. Special thanks also to Sheila Diemert and Robert Reiner.

Cremation has taken place at Jamie’s request, arranged by Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agatha RC Church, 1839 Notre Dame Drive, St. Agatha. All are welcome to attend the reception in the church basement immediately following the service. A private family interment at St. Agatha Cemetery will be held at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Agatha Catholic Church or the Food Bank of Waterloo Region would be appreciated by the family, and may be arranged through www.erbgood.com.
