Obituary of Frederick Earl Gray

Fred passed away peacefully with family by his side at Sunnyside Home on Thursday January 18, 2024, at age 90.

Survived by loving wife Patricia of 67 years, children David (Jamie) of Calgary, Susan (David) of Kitchener, Laura (Daniel) of Waterloo, grandchildren Ashley (Umaid), Jordanne, step-grandchildren Jacklynn (Evan), Adam (Claire), step- great-grandchildren Phoebe and Elouise, sister Gladys (Blair). Frederick will be remembered by many extended family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Gladys Gray, sisters Marilynn Kravec, Margaret Newman, and Carolyn Gray.

Fred graduated from the University of Toronto in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Fred was a highly respected structural engineer working across Ontario and Canada.   He established Fred E. Gray and Associates in 1973, later becoming Gray and Fick Inc Structural Engineers. Fred and Pat were involved with Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels in London. Together they were active long-standing members of Metropolitan United Church, in London.

Fred was a devoted husband and father. He had a quiet strength; he was always there to support those around him. Those who knew Fred well would remember his subtle sense of humour.

A Special thank you to the staff of Sunnyside Home for their care and support to Fred and his family during his two years in their care.   

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday Jan 26, 2024 from 10-12 p.m.  The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. A livestream and recording will be available for those who are not able to attend. A Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room.  Cremation will have taken place, and a private family interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in London.
