Obituary of Georg Emrich

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the age of 82.   

Survived by his wife Maria Emrich (nee Rehner), daughter Tina Chappell (Terry), son Frank Emrich, grandchildren Kenton Chappell (Brittany), Travis Chappell, Lily Emrich, and Noah Emrich, brother Mike Emrich (Rosie), and his sisters Maria Bernecker (Rolf) and Doris Hammond. Georg was the best husband, Dad, and Opa. Family meant everything to him; especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

He was predeceased by his father Georg Emrich, mother Susanna Schneider, and his nephew Daniel Hammond.

Georg was born in Passbusch, Transylvania on December 17, 1941. He lived in Austria, Germany, and moved to Canada with his family 50 years ago. Georg was a proud member of the Transylvania Club for those 50 years. He worked 38 years as a Stainless Steel Metal Fabricator/Welder at Astron Specialty Metals. Georg loved his vegetable garden, including many “straight” rows of green onions and garlic, and especially enjoyed sitting in his garden with a drink, feeding peanuts to the birds.

A Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, January 28 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel, followed by interment at Parkview Cemetery. A Reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room.
